1945
- Queens, New York -- U.S. Truck Body began operations in
a 5 0,000 square foot facility on 24th Street in Long Island
City. Through the ingenuity and hard work by Bernard and Al
Harmon, the business quickly grew into what is one of today's
leading suppliers of truck bodies. |
| |
| 1900's
- Body building experience at U.S. Truck dates back to the
turn of the century, where the Harmons' grandfather was a carriage
builder for high government officials in Romania. In the early
1900's his sons traveled to America, each bringing with him
his special expertise in the art of carriage building. |
| |
| 1920
- The father of Bernard and Al started in the truck body business
in 1920, with innovations that led to designing and building
exceptionally strong wagon bodies, then mounting them on top
of the wheels of the first gasoline powered vehicles that were
quickly driving the horse and wagons out of business. |

| 1945
- Body building business continued to grow, and in 1945, the New York
based U.S. Truck Body company came into being under that name, and
Bernard and Al joined their father, building and expanding their business
by offering quality products and personalized service to truck dealers,
fleet owners, and truck leasing organizations. |
| |
| 1986
- In 1986, Patrick Walker saw an opportunity to supply truck
bodies to the expanding Midwest truck market, and negotiated
a joint venture with U.S. Truck Body of New York to form U.S.
Truck Body/Midwest, at 1807 Bloomington Street in Streator,
Illinois. |
 |
| |
| 1993 - In 1993,
Patrick Walker and U.S. Truck Body/Midwest agreed to buy out
U.S. Truck Body of New York and assumed control of the entire
U.S. Truck Body product line and name. |
| |
| 2005 - Today,
U.S. Truck Body is still owned by the Walker family and operates
exclusively out of their Streator facility, specializing in
producing quality moving and van bodies for the trucking industry.
And the same "old fashioned" personalized customer service used
to build the company continues today. |
